Chambersburg, PA– March 2020 – The Wagner Centre https://thewagnercentre.com/ today announced that it has become the first periodontal practice in the region to offer a simple, quick and safe outpatient treatment for gum disease. Defined by the American Dental Association (ADA) as an infection of the tissues that support the teeth, the condition affects 75 percent of adult Americans. The LANAP protocol offers patients a patient-friendly treatment option to help guard against tooth loss associated with gum disease.

“I am always looking to provide my patients with treatment options that will be safe, effective and less invasive and help them get back to their lives faster,” said Dr Rebecca, of The Wagner Centre located in Chambersburg PA. “Often, patients refuse gum disease treatment based on fear, or have heard stories from family members. Now, with the LANAP protocol, we can help more patients receive treatment. Our first patients have been extremely positive about the experience. I firmly believe that by reducing post-operative pain, the number of sessions required and the recovery time, LANAP removes many of the reasons why so many patients hesitate to seek treatment for gum disease and helps me provide the best possible dental care for my patients.”

The LANAP® protocol uses the unique PerioLase® MVP-7™ dental laser to vaporize bacteria deep within the pockets of the gums while leaving healthy tissue intact. Patients undergoing LANAP treatment enjoy fast healing times and more predictable results. Some of the primary benefits of LANAP laser surgery as compared to traditional cut-and-sew surgery are:

  • Less pain
  • Less bleeding
  • Less sensitivity
  • Less gum loss
  • Less swelling
  • Very little downtime after treatment
  • Less post-op infections
  • Promotes regeneration of supporting gum tissues
  • Healing is perceived to be faster and more comfortable than conventional surgery

The LANAP protocol is also safe for patients with health concerns. Patients taking medicine such as Plavix or aspirin can continue medications throughout treatment.

All dentists who perform the LANAP protocol are required to complete Laser BootCamp®, an intensive three-day, clinical, hands-on, dentist-to-dentist training at the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD). An additional one-day advanced session at six months introduces dentists to further uses of laser technology and a final, one-day training at 12 months helps dentists hone and refine their techniques. This training is unique in the industry, and imparts the highest level of clinical knowledge.
